tuning options for XF 3.0 V6

Waynne, is the XF's 3.0 block and heads similar to that of the Duratec based 3.0 in the X-Type? The X-Type 3.0 has DOHC, 24 valves, forged crank and rods, and 10.5:1 compression ratio developing 231 h.p. and 207 lb/ft torque. Is the XF 3.0 turbocharged (lower compression ratio) and intercooled...

    X-Type performance tuning

Hey Waynne, Though we previously corresponded on other posts, I'm in the states. In the process of locating an AWD dyno tuning facility to dial in the ECU.

    X Type tuning

I just replaced a failed 3.0 with another 3.0 w/48k. Bolted on 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0 DOHC exhaust manifolds (flow much better), 2 1/4" pipe leaves each manifold, stock upstream O2 sensors are plugged in, pipes cont. into a single late model Dodge truck V-8 cat. (dual 2" inlets, single 2 1/2"...

Dynomat? Exaust sound in cabin too loud

I'm sure the mufflers are insulated by rubber mounts. What do you mean by exhaust walls (pipe?)? or rear of exhaust (outlet pipe?)? Thanks

Dynomat? Exaust sound in cabin too loud

The Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers create an exhaust note that is too loud in the cabin of my X-Type. Has anyone experience with Dynomat sound deadening material put in their trunk/boot? Does this product work well?

    Hello Torque Car members

Hey, hey, hey...a 50 h.p. NOS Cheater system? 2002-2004 fuel rails have a schrader valve to tap some fuel to mix with NO2. Though I swapped in an 05 engine, I saved the 02's lower intake manifold (with fuel rail and schrader valve just in case.... Do I need the fuel rail to supply fuel to...

    2002 x type 3.0

Stardawg, pgarner is correct. The stock exhaust is too restricted for a pair of mufflers to have an effect. Here's what you do: I recently installed a motor in my 2002 X-Type 3.0 auto. While out (you can do it while in too) a pair of 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0 DOHC exhaust manifolds (flow much...

Re: 70 h.p gain Hi Waynne, you're probably right about a 70 h.p. gain without head work. BonSpeed was able to achieve a 33 h.p. gain (260 h.p. vs 227 stock h.p.) with: leaving the stock manifolds and cats alone, switching to 2 1/2" pipes to Mina mufflers, and an ECU remap. I unclogged the major...

    Hello Torque Car members

I had the new engine dropped in after bolting up the Ford Taurus 3.0 DOHC exhaust manifolds. The heads were not removed. Due to time and money I chose not to get into the engine save port the intake plenum. Perhaps port the intake manifold down the road too. I figure a full exhaust and intake...

    2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0

Thank you pgarner. I'm confident an X-Type owner probably made mods on their car.

    Archive from the old forum

I know a small block OHV V-8 can be used. A DOHC V-8 (4.0 S-Type) is an entirely different story, requiring major surgery due to its greater girth. Though the S-Type comes with either a 3.0 V-6 or a 4.0 V-8, it has a larger engine compartment than the X-Type. Have you thought of using a late...

    Hello Torque Car members

I know a few things or two about cars and performance tuning theories, please let me help if yas need some help. On another note, after one month of owning her, the...

    2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0

Hello Fellow Gear Heads! A few weeks ago a 3.0 w/48k was dropped in place of the failed 3.0 in my 2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0, auto. trans. While the engine was out I bolted on a pair of 1999 Ford Taurus 3.0 DOHC exhaust manifolds, eliminated the dual cats, sent both manifolds into a single...

    Hello Torque Car members

On the X-Type 3.0, do you feel that an exhaust shop can simply weld on high flow cats, pipes, and mufflers (with stock placement of O2 sensors) without disturbing check engine light issues?

    Hello Torque Car members

Amazing torque can be had by the turbo-diesel? The 3.0 with 209 lb/ft feels adequate, however as you may agree, we love torque! "Volo" claims to have a chip germane to the x-type 3.0 that plugs into OBD2 port. I shot them a message to see if they can post certified test data. Have a nice weekend.
