Renault Zoe Tuning
Tuning the Renault Zoe and best Zoe performance parts.
We look at Zoe tuning and summarize the optimum modifications. The Renault Zoe offers good returns when tuned and with the best modified mods you can definitely enhance your driving experience. Small family cars and city cars respond well to even modest power gains due to their light weight.
A popular car for city driving is the Zoe and our members have some interesting projects on the go. If you do your planning then you can create an awesome Zoe but don't be fooled there are lots of mods out there that will simply not suit it read our unbiased guides first.
Improving the handling for many people first priority in your Zoe tuning project. We suggest that you fit modified suspension and lower the car by 30-35mm. Larger drops require arch work.
Turning our attention to the Zoes engine we need to get a bit more power out of the top end. The trouble is that these are electric cars, so you need more powerful motors, more voltage and better cooling. These all cost quite a bit!
Power mods.
Typically these modifications are usually fitted by our members, decide how far you wish to go in your tuning project before you start.
Getting the correct grade of sports parts for your planned usage of the car is vital. Stage 3 motor sport mods just won't work well on the road hard to control in slow traffic.

Best mods for your Zoe
- Remaps - Zoe engine tuning/remapping provides the biggest gains compared to cost, allowing you to extra the max from your motors and battery
- Motor Uprades are a good way to raise torque but so far we haven't found anyone offering aftermarket kits to achive this on the Zoe
- Zoe Handling Mods (suspension) - Fitting a more sporty Suspension kit dramatically improves Zoe handling Poly Bushes and Coilovers are typically fitted to achieve this
- Brake Upgrades - Enhancing your stopping power ought to be high on your agenda.
- Weight reduction - a lighter car will accelerate faster and stop better, so making the Zoe lighter (it's not heavy to start with) would be a great way to improve it's performance.
Zoe Tuning Stages
Typical stage 1 mods often include:
Alloy wheels,Suspension upgrade (drop 30-40mm), ECU changes to increase torque and power band
Typical stage 3 mods often include:
Increasing the battery capacity and voltage, using higher power electric motors (with more winds in each coil and stronger magnets).
Your aims when modding your car should be a flat and wide torque output. You don't want all the power to be at the top end unless you are creating a motor sport car and this is what you get with an electric car, a nice flat torque band.
In this article we shall give a little insight into the world to the best modifications for your car, but we'd encourage you to spend some time on the site looking into the details of each type of performance part.
Zoe Alloy wheel upgrades.
Alloy wheels will help the brake cooling and are generally lighter than the steel ones. The downside to large alloys on your Zoe is that you're altering your final drive ratio so this will have a negative effect on acceleration.
Although some people have installed larger rims without problems we would restrict ourselves to a 16 inch rim size as the maximum.
