Zafiras on Fire

What are your thoughts on the Zafira fire risk? (It's quite aptly names the ZaFIREa!)

From what I can make out this is down to garages replacing the fuse with a higher rated one because it kept shorting out, which is kind of what a fuse is meant to do when there is a problem.

Is this down to Vauxhall? Can it be argued that the owners or garages who made these bodged repairs are to blame and should pay to put it right or was it down to an original design flaw from Vauxhall?

This is why I'd only buy a car with a dealer service record, most of these bodge fixes are avoided that way and you know you are ending up with a half decent car.

It's not Vauxhalls fault that people have fitted the wrong fuses. They specify a fuse rating for a reason.
