Ok so spin forward a few years (or many years) to your retirement.

What car do you think you will own when you retire? Will it be something small and economical or would you go for a "mid life crisis" sort of sports car?

I think i'd have something sensible but powerful. It will probably also be an all electric car judging by the way things are going. That new electric Jag might be the ticket!:)

Not going for early retirement then HDI? Anyhow, the retirement age will probably be 85 by then!

If we're lucky. I think there's going to be one hell of a problem in a few years time where a whole generation will not be able to afford to retire.

Even if we are medically able to carry on working this will not fix youth unemployment problems.

It's a big problem in my book which is why we cannot consider ourselves anywhere nearly out of economic recession just yet.

I agree,

I did take me a while to find a new job, I got one now and admittedly it's not great however it pays rather well considering I'm just a warehouse lackey, lol

as for the car though, I don't know I'm far too young to know for sure,
but I hope I don't end up driving a solar powered box, there nothing wrong with solar power or electric cars, I just want the good drivers car to go with it and not mearly a tool for buying a newspaper or going to the post office to get my pension, that's if I will be able to...

When I retire.........yea right!

No idea what I'll be running, probably something very old but brutal to scare the nippers!

One of my goals in life is to have a 67 Mustang Fastback in the Garage by the time im 40 ( 24 now), and to completely bare shell, ground up restore it ready for my retirement. Will then be passed down to my Son or Daughter when the time comes for me to move on.

Thats the plan anyways, I have kinda been looking around for one for a while now, but kinda put off because that means storage fees for the next 16years+

I'd love a prestine Escort Cosworth.
Seen one the other day on another forum. It was a gem with only 190 something genuine miles from new on a K plate IIRC. The blokes decided to keep it now had it up for 40k. Well worth it imo.
