What is the most adventurous job to date that you have personally carried out on your car?

I tend to leave everything to a mechanic with the right tools than bodge things myself so in this car I think I've done bulbs, wiper blades and brake pads. That's about as far as I've gone really.

Same here. Passat is the worst car I've owned in terms of simple maintenance. Cabin filter alone takes about 90 minutes.

Lamps (bulbs, if you like) very fiddly. Blades OK.

Does replenishing screen wash tank count as maintenance? :)

Everything is maintenance if it takes longer than 10 minutes and you injure yourself whilst doing it in some way or ruin a tool!

A toss up between converting the Elan to inboard rear dampers and designing and making my own pneumatic paddle shift system.

I tend to leave all of the work to trained professionals, but a few years ago I did make a heat shield out of stainless steel for my twin cone air filter which was located under the bonnet at the time.
