How much was your first car insurance premium?

I paid £550 for 8 months cover on a Renault 9 TLE 1.3! (It was about 10 years old when I got the car!)

£1979 a year.... Not too bad considering, a lady from enother company stated ' I'm sorry for the high premium, but your car is listed as a HIGH PERFORMANCE vehicle...' Of course I laughed at her. Still.... its a alot of money.

Through the roof! over £800 for a diesel fiesta nearly ten years ago.

MR2 is £241 per year, Lude is something like £35 per month, Audi is £300 per year.

im my own name 1.4 civic with alloys and induction kit, i was 19 in my defence passed test 6 months earlier. £1300. was supposed to be £900 until i added the wheels and filter

With the discount I get from being a member of the engineering and technolgy organization in Norway (computer engineering student) I pay almost NOK 11 000 a year which is roughly £1200. Car is a stock 2002 Volvo s60. Never crashed and no upgrades to the car.

I don't know how the insurance works in England, but in Norway you insure the car and not the driver. What I've got is called a "part-hull"-insurance which only covers things like theft, fire and the cost if I hit someone else's property. I won't get anything back for my car if it gets damaged from crashing, rolling over or from driving of the road.

Full-hull insurance would cost me £2200 a year which is almost twice as much.

our equivalent would be:
'third party only' which covers damage to the other persons property and nothing on your own car including theft
'third party fire and theft' which is obvious
'fully comprehensive' which covers your own car too

I cannot remember that far back! £150 ish I think it was for a Marina van of 1973 vintage, was a ten year old car at the time. Would have been TPF&T as FC was alot back then.

£500 L reg 1.3 escort in 2003. Bought for £180 at auction.
Shockinng figures really. Probably worse/more for new drivers now.

Bought my 306 for £3000 about 5 years ago and paid £1700 for my first years insurance when I was 18, that was on my own, no parents were on my insurance....

Not bad on the whole really,
