XJR power steering

The power steering on my XJR sounds laboured untill the engine warms up over a good few miles then the problem/noise goes away.

Try an additive to lubricate the power steering. I think this is quite normal, my cousin has Jags and they all had noisy steering pumps.

sounds like the cold climate would be the problem, the powersteering fluid is possibly very viscous at the lower tempreture , hence the noise goes away when hot . The noise could be the pump relief valve lifting ( the thicker oil resists flow , raising the pressure the pump operates at in normal usage ) the relief valve will be a cartridge style and non adjustable , change the viscosity to a lower value oil and you should be trouble free

Have you added the additive from Jaguar part # C2S 488887 this is a Technical Service Bulletin I can email the TSB since I cannot attach files yet

Would you mind emailing me that TSB please? Ours groans when cold; fluid is changed/belt and tensioners new. (marko@cosic.org.uk)

Cheers!
