what is the worst looking or worst make of car you do not like to admit to owning.i think mine was a 1.8 morris marina that the big ends used to knock in the engine it was always breakin down it drank oil quicker than you could put petrol in it and it was beige with a brown vynal roof.:embarrest:

Haha! I was waiting for this thread to appear after seeing your post in the Bonnet Bra thread!

Worst car I ever owned was my first car. A 1.0 litre Corsa C. Nothing really wrong with it, just didn't really like it.

in my defence i was young it was my second car my first car was a mini.i did not know much about cars.we never had the web or forums like this.blah blah blah.am i forgiven.lmao

Rover 216SLi - bubble shape. Fault after fault after fault... oh and then it blew up epically at 70mph on the motorway!

Lol.

My first car was a Marina 1.8TC, and I loved it cos it was my first car. Rolled like a tanker ship but was relatively quick for its time.

I'd probably hate driving one now though.

Never actually owned a worst car but I've had some bad hire ones from work. Two particularly were a brand-new 60 plate 1.6 Astra that was so slow it was dangerous and a new at the time 56 plate Audi A4 that was so dull I nearly fell asleep driving it.

Audi A4 V6, as I expected so much more from it, Guess I believed all the hype, BORING and Talent-less. Saab much the same but very comfortable.

Astra 1.4 K reg, it was really rusty. The front axle rusted through, the brake discs were warped, the exhaust fell off. It hadn't been serviced in years and it was the first and only car I bought without seeing it and relied on a friend to give me the nod it was good! I spend more keeping that heap on the road for the year than I originally paid for it, talk about a white elephant!

My worst buy was an 850 cc rear engined Renault that was so noisy and it felt like one was being inside a jam tin.
The drive shafts were so fragile they may have been made of glass.

Lancia Thema V6 only because something was breaking on it constantly. Speedo only worked above 80mph so never knew what speed I was doing. Most of the other electrics failed. Gearbox breaking was the final straw. Beautiful car when it worked briefly though

Guess I've been lucky none of my cars have been money pits. With the aid of friends in the know, the Internet and a odb reader nothing has ever cost me an extortionate amount of money

did they ever build a 2 door sedan? because it looks beautiful, love it's looks.

I have a feeling that there was a 2 door Marina sedan (or saloon for UK readers). There was also a later Morris Ital which was a very slightly better car.

Yes, I liked them as well. I think the same floorpan was used in Saab's 9000, Alfa's 164 and Peugeot's 605.

Certainly the Saab and Alfa shared the same chassis, unsure of the Peugeot though but maybe, it was 80s after all. The V6 in mine was a Volvo 2.8 unit with about 150hp. I was the 2nd owner, 1st one being the Earl of Romsey! Had every gadget you could think of at the time including a logic control cassette deck with Dolby S concealed behind a motorised panel in the centre console. Felt really flash as I was only 21 at the time just going into junior management. Try and find another one today, not many around especially with the Ferrari V8 in it.

Ooh I did have an old 80s VW Passat automatic for about 2 weeks. It had a bit of a drinking problem though so moved that on sharpish. I also had a Mk3 Escort 1.6 Ghia which I had to carry a hammer around in it as intermittently the starter motor would seize and I was to broke to replace it. This went on for about 6 months until I got down to the breakers yard to replace. If I knew it would only be a fiver for it I would of replaced it sooner.V(
Taking girls out on dates was quite embarrassing when I was in Maccy Ds car park walloping the starter motor :lol::lol:

Did you marry one of those girls later on in life Andy? I bet they remember those antics with fond memories

Actually I did Os, 18 years ago. Jan does remember being stuck in a cinema car park in Milton Keynes. We had to get back to Aylesbury so she was stressing we wouldn't make it. Pouring with rain and I get the hammer out from under the seat and say "Don't worry, I'll fix it" the look on her face!! :woot: We got back in time, no problem ;b/

I remember when I had Dolby C on my old Nakamichi tape deck, thought I was the business.
Did you tick the little box on the tape insert or painstakingly adjust the record levels so it just peaked before it distorted. Just don't get that interaction with downloads these days. Pausing the recording just before the announcer came in for the next song on the weekly top 40 was a real skill

Adjusted everything, if memory serves me correctly it also had adjustable azimuth as well.

My old MG ZR. God, that thing developed a fault nearly every week. I went through 3 thermostats, couple radiator hoses, head gasket, 2 temperature sensors, 2 sets of brake discs and pads, an exhaust, several coolant leaks in places I never found but fixed them selves... Nightmare. Not too mention the insurence company at the time, changing prices all the damn time, drinking stupid amounts of petrol, regardless of not driving hard. My current mini is cheaper to insure with mods then the ZR! It was only a 1.4!!
