So... i would like to get my rear passenger and the one on my boot (nice and technical):embarrest: tinted to a fairly dark, sort of like limo tint, you cant see in but you can see out sort of level.

Any advice on where to go to get it fitted or is it a DIY job?
also what will it cost roughly?

Help appreciated!!!

you can do it DIY but would advise going to someone.
the law states that it has to be withen cetain limits on the front cant remember if theres laws on the rears

No rules on the rear ones. Something with about 85% attenuation is where I'd be setting the bar. Strangely this can often make foward vision better.

There used to be a superb specialist in Milton Keynes, which sadly has been taken over by auto windscreens. It's also a very long way from you, but........

A quick google found this:

I have no idea what the quality is like but the website is plausible. Film tints are the way to go in my opinion. To do this properly is not especially cheap as the windows have to removeed from the car so you're probably looking at around £500 for the rear and rear sides at a guess. DOn't bother with the spray on options - these, frankly, do not work.

The film also has a benefit in a collision as it reduces the risk of flying glass fragments. Let's hope none of us ever find ourselves in the unfortunate position that we can appraise this!

I'm not a fan of styling mods in general but I am considering getting the rear sections of my car done at some point as I think it looks very attractive. It also improves foward vision as the contrast ratios are higher when the interior of the car is slightly darker.

Supposedly it's also good if you have passengers who are susceptible to travel sickness. This is a bit subjective, though, i my opinion.

£500 quid is a bit of a steep price to pay for three bits of glass. There is a car down my road with a nice window tint so i might ask them where they got theres done and how much before commiting although i think window tinting if done tastefully is a very nice thing to have!

cheers for the info mate:blink1:

I'm only guessing - I have never had a quote for tinting and have never enquired of anyone else who's had it done. Make that call first, mate. Especially in these difficult times - make an offer and see what happens.

I found a place that does it about three roads away from me. I am a bit sceptical about asking though because its not a garage its a house!!!

will keep looking and posting but i think i will have to save up and get it done pro!!
