the gf accord has a noise lately and it goes like tyhis

when your driving straight its grand, but when you turn left or right, its like you have a flat tyre, or the tyre is really been pushed into the rd

its only on the passenger side front
i checked was the wheels tight, they are

any ideas fellas??
going looking at it tommorow, but would help if i knew what the most likley causes were,
thanks prevtec

it might be a wheel bearing, but as hdi said, its noisy 1 way, this is noisy any way you turn, what about a track rod??

possible snapped spring,
ball joint
cv joint or drive shaft

if it was wheel bearing wouldnt it make a constant noise when moving like a scraping noise, not just on corners

i remember my old vecs wheel bearing went on passenger side and it was a constant scrapping noise, wheel was tight till jacked up then was loads of play in it

No not all the time they do tend to make the most noise when going through bends..

thats what i thought too, but driving straight on theres no noise, its only when cornering, i think its a track rod, or something that moves in and out when cornering

ok then mate,
its not loose or anything but it feels like theres a small bit of give in the wheel when turning, would a wheel bearing have this effect??

It could have an effect yes... But it could also be the steering rack or possibly a worn track rod end or something like that. If you jack the noisy wheel up a little and then get a bar and wedge it between the wheel and the floor if you get movement when doin this then its the bearing...

well this is a new noise so if it was a bearing, its only started to go, so maybe it wouldnt make a noise in a straight line just yet??

If you ask me it sounds just like a bearing. I've had loads of cars with them go an they are all the same... It only happened going through bends...

this steering rack has me wondering, ive noticed a tiny bit of play in the steering wheel itself, you move it left or right and it moves a touch before it actually bites and pulls the steering, (if that makes sense)

does a steering rack consist of 2 parts, 1 left, 1 right, if not and is only 1 part, its not that as the problem is only on the left side

yeah, its like you have a pucture or your tire isnt pumped up properly, you know that sagging sound, well thats exactly what the sound is

I was only teasing, and I apologise - well - a little bit anyway. If you'd snapped the half shafts you'd have no drive at all.

It is looking like a wheel bearing is on the way out. A good independent specialist should be able to do this for somewhere between 60 and 70 Euros. Parts needn't be OEM Honda ones. Look for a company called blueprint - they make pattern parts for Japanese cars, UK models and imports. I used to have their discs all round on my P11 and they were exceptionally well made.

thanks hdi

halfrausd do alot of blueprint stuff (special order)
and because i have a trade card, i get 30 percent off parts, and i know the lads so i get a further 15 percent staff discount, nearly half price on parts

example
ive recently went there for discs and pads, (blueprint)
113 euros, the lot, car factors were charging 160 euros just for discs

so il try them tomorrow for the wheel bearings, if i get it for 50 euros, it will be a cheap fix:D

should i take it to the garage, or are they easy to fit???

It's not especially time consuming, it might even be worth doing both fronts at the same time if you have the cash. It's possible that the pair are on their respective ways out given it's noisy on left and right lock.
