What was your first car and did you sell it in good working order or did it end up going to the breakers yard?

Ford Anglia 105E for £85. When we got it home we discovered that the gap between the top of the front wing and the inner wing had been repaired with oil can metal!

As my Dad felt responsible, he got rid of it and bought another one for £130 which I kept until I bought the Elan.

Fitted a 1200 then a 1500cc engine, flip front, wide wheels (Weller steels), Capri front leg disc conversion, customised the interior with covered dash and racing seats. Mounted a cassette player to the underside of the roof.

My 1st car was a Morris z ute with a side valve 850cc motor that achieved app 80 mph down a steep hill.
I used to drive/flog it like there was no tomorrow and sitting here typing this and thinking back it's a wonder I survived.

PS Only bought the Z as couldn't afford an Austin A40 which was the current hotness at the time.

Citroen AX 1.0. Great little car despite body roll like a roller coaster and couldn't stop that well with it's bicycle tyres and crappy brakes. Used to get plenty of miles out of it though and thrashed it to hell. Still sold it on for about a grand though. Don't see many about these days unfortunately

Fiat 128 brought for 300 quid in 1983.
It was quick for 1100cc and no rust which for a Fiat of that era was pretty good.
Traded in 2 years later for a Metro 1300hl.
It was still in good order and still not rusty.

My first car was a 98 Civic 1.4 in red. Not fast but was pretty much bomb proof. Only thing I ever had go wrong was a dead battery.
Sold it to my brother and he had it for ages with no problems at all either.
After that I bought my first Supra so was quite a step up :)

Morris Marina 1.8TC -twin cam!!! Didn't handle so much as roll around the corners.

It lasted me a fair while all things considered. Changing the rear leaf springs was fun. Not. It eventually rusted away basically.

A friend of mine had a Morris Marina once upon a time, it had the fastest heating heater in the world, absolutely marvellous in the winter

I started with a 1981 Fiat 127 Sport. 1981/W. 1049cc SOHC. 72bhp was pretty good for an engine that size in that era.

It was lightweight and thus went, stopped and handled pretty well for what it was. Wouldn't fancy a collision in it though.

All my mates had 41bhp 1.1 litre Escorts so I was very happy at 18.

Bought a Montego 2.0i at 19 years old !!
