What Other Cars Did You Consider?

When you bought your current car, what other cars did you consider at the time (if you did consider anything else)? Did you use other cars to compare and see which one would suit you best?

When I was looking for a new car I had 3 choices in mind... an Audi A3, Hyundai Coupe and of course a Civic Coupe. In the end I got the Civic because it would give me the best base to modify.

What about everyone else?

i had 3 choice aswell. either a clio, corsa or a polo. i decided to go for the polo for the following reasons.

clio's are very unreliable. my cousen had a 1.8 clio and i cant remember how many times the clutch cable snapped. also they had problems with the clio's when they were made. there were quite a few insidents were the bonnet flew back. smashing the window screen. so i didnt choose the clio.

the corsa. dont know why i wanted one. glad i never got 1. to common for me.

so i brought a vw polo mk4. best thing i ever done i think. had the car jst over a year now and its goin great. only prob ive had with it was the gearbox went on it, about a month after i past. they do tent to go if the car has been lowerd like mine because there is to much pressure on the diff or something, cant remember what the bloke down the local garage said. so yeah. choosing my v dub was a good choise.

I'm so similar to Prince! Strange! I chose the VTi-S or the 1.8T sport and went for the Audi because it was easier to tune although I'll concede there are more styling options out there for the Civic but I'm an engine man when it comes to my car. I also looked at the 200sx but couldn't wait for a decent one to come along.

Well with me when I bought the Skyline I already had an R33 which never really did anything for me so I was thinking I need more power so do I spend 5 to 10K on an engine to go in a car thats only worth 4K or do I upgrade to a 34 which at the time was about 12K and then spend the money on it.

I picked the R34 and so here I am now. I was also considering buying another elise but kind of changed my mind at the last minute. I loved my elise but you just can't beat turbo power lol

I don't think I've ever chosen a car, I just tend to get what comes my way.

Unfortunately people offer me cars so I buy them.

I've gone from an old Fiat Panda 'Super' to a Mk3 Fiesta, to a Mk1 Toyota MR2, to a Mk4 Escort to a different Mk3 Fiesta to a Land Rover Discovery which I still have back to the second Fiesta which I also still have and now I am driving a 1984 5 Series BMW.

I like the RWD best, and as much fun as the MR2 was, and it was my favourite out of the lot so far, I wouldn't have another unless I had lots of time in which to fix it or lots of money.

My wife doesn't like me drifting the BMW, so just as well its only a 1.8 - that makes it much harder!

i had saved for a long time to get £8,000 in the bank so my choices where an evo iv/v or an celica gt-four st205 just for the power (prefer the looks of the st185) and then the good/bad news of the mrs wanting a baby so had to get a practical 5 door :( enter the leon :bigsmile:/:(

as i said before, im all honda
but before i bought the prelude, i looked at an audi a4
thank god it was a piece of crap, as i didnt do too bad ending up with what i have

Panda 100hp, great toy but I couldn't live with the overly harsh suspension on my awful local roads :amuse:

A Mini (a real one) nearly did.

A Triumph GT6, I don't fit in one :(

Volkswagon Type 3 square back, like hens teeth & like all old VW's struck by the cool tax. :(

Land Rover 90 because I love Landies! :D

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS, never gonna happen! :D:(

Went for my current car because it was such a larf when I went for the test drive at Talon :D

Looked at Bora, glof, A4, all in 1.9tdi and 1.8t BMW 320d and accord 2.2.
going with my price range it knocked out the BM and accord.

Ended up with the bora as it was going cheaply for what was on it

Thanks? Maybe we just have the most sense! Not sure about the A3 having more tuning options though. Either way, both great cars!

It's not that doing the looks first is my priority, in fact it pains me! It's just that I don't think I could afford the insurance if I done the tuning side fo things first.

before i got my Z i looked at a prelude (any year/model), early to mid 90's 240sx, integra, supra, civics (new and old), and a WRX.

I went with my Z due to the Supra being way to much over here (around 20k min for a decent one) and all the others, although they have a good base and a wide range of parts, they were everywhere you looked in san diego. I wanted something that had a strong base and wasn't seen everywhere. also the 90 to 99 300ZX has stiling that fits into todays sports/tuner market without much work.
