Engine for me. As long as the car looks neat and tidy the only thing I care about is how it goes.

Not sure, having a unique looking car is appealing, but its important to have the go to match up with the look, its no good if you look like a racer but get beaten off the line by a 1000cc perodua myvi - id die of shame.

if you havent got the cash for both, then work on the engine is the primary concern.
