If someone asked you to recommend a fast car what would you recommend?

What is a fast car in your opinion?

You used the word Fast (not quick) so the main criteria is it will be that. So any car that can exceed 200mph within a mile would be my criteria for a fast car. LAferrari, Porsche 918, McClaren P1 & Lambo Huracan & The Veyron of course are the only 'out of the box' cars that can do that- so take your pick. If you want to spend less money but go faster the SVM Skyline (Goddam) will do 230 in that distance & is the fastest in the UK . SVM also produce a 1400bhp Nissan Qashqai so if you want to do the school run & easily beat a LA Ferrari that's the one for you. For real basement money a 1989 Ford Sierra can achieve that if you know what your doing.

i saw that 230 mph run by the svm gtr at marham airfield............it was ridiculous

A car that is driven fast. There are people who will drive a Ford Escort 1.3 L fast. Driving fast is a both precise art and a vague science.

driving fast ,is when you are beyond your ability, then going faster!
if you live, the feeling will be with you forever!

i think this topic has been gone over already!

but my money would be on one of USA Hennessy F5,or Venom.

the answer to every speed question isnt an f5 or venom besides this is a different topic what is a fast car not what is the fastest.

but on that subject that nissan is way faster than an f5 or venom

fair enough , how about the new Ford GT40s, USA style.

Ford GT 1800hp top speed, baddGT,, 347mph

latest speed for the Venom(older one), was 270mph. faster than the best Veyron.

the F5 when sorted out , will go 290mph.

a matter of course , they are ALL shooting for the MAGIC 300mph mark, and i can guarentee it will happen.

A 300mph road car and in my lifetime  I never thought that would happen, but I am so looking forward to that :)

I've said it before. 300mph is around record land speed for a car. For an aircraft it's totally unremarkable. The clever bit with land speed records is keep the thing on the ground.

I believe that France's TGV has achieved something just short of 360mph. OK, it was a deliberate attempt to set a speed record but the train was standard. The AC overhead line voltage was increased from 25kV to around 32kV for this purpose. Is this much different from the way rubber tyred speed runs are conducted?

True those hennessys are pretty damn quick 186mph in 13 and bit seconds

The GTR is question around 9 seconds and there is are a fair few quicker ones

how about USA top fuel dragsters. two wheel rear drive.
0-100mph in .8 tenths second
0-200 in 2 seconds
0-300 in 3.4 seconds

just down the street from me,1/2 mile, a Modified 1967 Mustang ELECTRIC, made 0-60mph
in 1.94 seconds. only noise was tire swishing(almost silent). with time slips to prove it.

this all regular race guys, no big super/ unlimited mega money BS.

are we talking wheel driven cars or thrust powered cars, two completely different animals!
fastest wheel drive car in USA was around 1960, went 402MPH,thats with tires doing the push.
not jet thrust!
its all in the record books, for bonneville!
which again is not a practical STREET car.
jet car cant even go around any corner any where! ( but be an interesting show,LOL).

like said before, my opinion of a good street race, would be the SSCC,(silver state classic challenge), Nevada USA.
i have personal video of a Nissan after a crash, car rolled up into BALL shape, good roll cage guy lived (miracle).

OK it is an open public highway blocked both ends for race,2lane blacktop straight far as can be seen, NO fences ,barriers, only rock boulders and ditch off the sides, across a desert, for 100 miles(shortened to 90miles recently).

so far no forced induction car has made the full run, without engine damage, that is full boost full load for 90miles, most cant carry enough fuel,(auxiliary tanks add to much weight!

record,at present, is a N/A USA V8 Hemi, at an average 240mph for 90 miles!!
ran the last part thru the timing station at 255mph.
to much down force slows you down, not enough down force and you float off the road, its easy to do(LOL).

tell the Nissan guys to bring it on, its a nice open road to go fast on!

remember when the GTR 1st arrived here in USA, factory said ECU cant be hacked it was super technology.
well a young guy here in AUSTIN TX, did it in two weeks , and now has all programs adjustable to anything you want.

and he did for free, just because of the challenge, and fun!

Posts about GTR ecus, personal videos , US street racing ,and the fastest top fuel drag times in the US (and most of your other rants) are completely irrelevat to the thread which was about .....................................
