Down my way we have probably 2 - 3 really nicely modded cars but loads of stock looking Scoobies and plenty of Audi & BMW's wearing sport badges.

I'm going to ignore the kids with their plastic fantastics for now;)

I was wondering if this was an area dependent thing so what is the car modding scene like where you are?

Remind us of where you live as well;)

pretty poor in my area, there is a few about but they arnt that well done.
we got the wyedean rally by me so some people have some nice stuff for that.
i live in the forest of dean uk :p

poor very poor.
theres a couple of nice standard cars and some subtly done, but most are the plastic everywhere that looks like its been driven through halfords

it is nice when u see a very well done car, that makes u stop and think "wow" but it isnt very often, i think most people stick to standard and the most they do to there car is put alloys on it.

Not so much, we've got a few ricers with stock engines, a few plastic cheap plastic bumpers, exhaust tip for sound and badly installed race seats. There is one really tuned WRX STi and a few old american musclecars which are allways fun. There are quite a few raised 4x4's and most of them well done. A big part of the cars here are american pickups since there are many sailors and snowcross or motorcross drivers who need to cary theyr stuff around and some just for the looks. We've allso got one tuned Escelade EXT which means it is a pickup, it has a tuned engine, a really nice exhaust job and sound awsome. Looks incredible to. Besides from that there are a few really nice done cars in Akureyri but there aren't so many tuners around here.

I live in north Iceland

Id say its pretty poor, i live in cambridge and theres a few nice modded cars about. A really nice gt turbo starlet has been seen a few times but apart from that theres just boy racers with standard corsas with dustbins tied underneath.

The tuner scene is crap where i live i have not seen 1 nice car alll cheap tacky boy racers with awfull ice sytems blaring out drum and bass (nothing wrong with drum and bass) with huge exhausts on the back making them sound worse than mopeds yes worse!!!

I want mine to be tasetfull with a stock engine untill i build up a few years no claims and then maybe give it a paint job and engine swap, maybe for a 2.0l who knows!!!!(my dad thinks im dreaming)

I know its hard to believe but its true!!! Every time one of these cars goes past i turn to my mum and say, your hair looks fine now please concentrate on where your going!!!

chippy bugger off, whats it like still to be in nappies ;)

my mum and dad still have a metal one but thats for the ashes good old coal fire. plastics wheelie are everywhere here

Ahh - metal bins where you could ditch the faintly glowing embers from yesterday's burn without risk of damage or danger.

I Remember these fondly. Anyone ever got acquainted with a solid fuel Rayburn or Aga?

Beautiful pieces of furniture with a practical side to them. But you do need a proper oven as well unless you like everything cooked for hours on end.

Now, has anyone ever managed to get a quote for remapping a solid fuelled Aga to make it cook with the speed and efficiency of a Neff?

not used the aga, but 1 of dads mate has a rayburn as there cooker, they also have a small oven. mym and dads stove however could do the job just as well, come in great during power cuts.
also plumbed into the central heating No gas or imersion heater and basically boiling water out of the tap all the time. fire itself is hot enough to make the 10mm thick stainless steel front plate glow white hot - overheat the original cast one years ago.

its about the only thing i miss in the flat

we have quite a big scene here, mainly jap, couple of reeeeeealy nice skylines, few mr2's, glanzas, my 200sx (of course lol) quite alot of scoobies. dont see that many chav'd up corsas as we used to

plus have a huge multi club meet on a wed, starting to pick up more now with weather getting better, looking at approx 200+ cars every week in the summer, is really quite good.

all i have to say is its chavtastic here, plenty of saxos corsas 106s knockin about only having a large exhaust mod, and maybe a susp drop, there is the odd scooby, and an evo 8 knockin about, but thats about it

driving to work yesterday seen about 10 lovely supras ripping the dual carrigeway up then an aireal(sp?) attom m3's ect racing but other than that pretty standard round here loads of tacky escorts and fiestas but there is a few really nice cars. i live in corby 1 mile from rockingham raceway (hence the cars i seen)

in my town?

theres the normal chav type with the shopping cart with a dusbin for an exhaust and lexus lights [they really dont look good on punto's and saxo's but they do look good on a ........LEXUS]

there is one or two nicly done up cars but the general tuners are 17-18 y/o's with saxo's and massive exhausts. quite annoying really.

might have to drown them out with a open pipe on a new VMAX ;)

I do live in macedonia (FYROM) in a small town called gostivar, in the west of the country.
The tuning scene here's cool, but as waynne said there are too much plastic fantastic kids, and just a few real tuners.
here mostly is about style, usually the coolest cars around here are styled golf's and astra's, and a few american and german exotics (corvette's and porsche's).
when is comes to power, there aren't any people who would go for it....

I live in Essex (but am a Kent boy) quite near to Basildon. Need I say more?
:)

One advantage in living in Boy Racer Land is that we are awash with ex-Ford of Borham rally and racing employees who have started tuning businesses - Mountune, Geoff Page Racing, Graham Hatherway Racing, Blue Sprint to name but a few. I also have Engine Advantages and Essex Turbos nearby along with numerous chassis and body specialists plus umpteen engineering firms.

Essex really is a great place to tune cars, despite the preponderance of Saxos with 6 inch exhaust pipes :)

luckily round by me and vastly spanning out to surrounding areas the tuning scene is great and i am including the plastic fantastic cause as far as im concerned this is still tuning :blink1:

its good here in the S/W WALES all sorts cars im in a jap car club here in swansea and we have some serious cars and then there is a few more clubs that work out of swansea so its good here

The tuning scene is ok around Northamptonshire. Of course we have the chavved up 1 litre Corsas but if you run in the right circles you can see some nice cars. For example, I hang out with UK Street Cars and most of the group drive really nice cars. There's actually a fair few car clubs around here.
