Can anyone explain to me what is the difference between metallic and ceramic brake pads?

Is one better than the other? Does it last longer or brake better? Ceramic pads cost a lot more.

I've heard of ceramic discs but now I'm seeing people selling ceramic pads.

pretty sure the difference is the materials used, metallic used a steel strand in them whereas ceramics use ceramic and copper particles. benefits are less noise , squeal and dust, less wear on the rotor and pads, better heat dissipation resulting in less heat fade and better braking alr all round use

Ceramic is usually the performance option but these often only work at higher temps - especially if designed to be a "fast road or race pad".

Ceramic pads help reduce heat transfer to the brake fluid as ceramic is a very poor conductor. It means your discs get to do all of the work dissipating heat.

Unless brake fade and heat are big issues I see no need to pay the extra for the performance option here. High friction conventional pads should more than suffice.
