what engine was used

i was just wondering .......

i have a post about performance parts for a legacy 2.0

however

i just wanted to know was the engine that is in my 1993 2.0 4WD legacy GL that same as that which is found in the 2.0 4WD impreza of a similar year??

I think it is an EJ20 but I'm not sure. The turbos are internally very different engines.

its a non turbo legacy btw

The turbos run a lower compression and much tougher components and the heads are also different. (If I find out any more i'll let you know!)

i just got me thinking that surely subaru wouldnt make 2 different non turbo flat 4 engine's 1 for the impreza and 1 for the legacy

Nope chances are the block will be very simular, as Waynne said it'll be the internals that are different.

The engines nay have the same external dimensions but the internals are differnt .

Of course you may well be able to swop parts over but that wasnt the question
