Decided to go to filling station for a few beers on way home van cut out so i popped bonnet and was greeted by flames coming from all round sump [which cost 2 cans of lager to put out] on investigation starter motor had seized got one on ebay for £10 absolute pig to change [alternator,exhaust manifold,air filter and a heap of hoses and wires all had to come out ,finally got everything up and running again but What caused prob in first place ANY IDEAS? dont want to go through that again :sad2:

Sounds like a short circuit.

Oil dripping on the exhaust can sometimes ignite. Are there any oil leaks?

What sort of lager did you use to extinguish the flames ?

I suspect 40% ABV whisky would ignite!

Problem solved [i hope] leaking injector ,i thought i was using more fuel the last couple of weeks ,oh it was stella btw
