VW Polo 6n
Hi everyone, new to this page.
Just picked up a 1996 MK3 Polo 6n with the plans to originally sell on a make a quick profit but I’ve always had a soft spot for them so deciding to keep it, currently has a 1.0 lump in it, looking to put something else in it, done some research and looking to put a 1.6 16 valve out of a 6n2 GTI or a 1.4 16 valve AFH engine in it and working up from there, just can’t make my mind up, and would like pointing in the right direction on carrying it out because it’ll be my first VW engine swap, any information and pointers will be much appreciated, cheers.

They are really nice cars so I understand why you've kept it.

Get an engine from the same model year as your - it will make life easier, you'll need the gearbox and ECU as well, and you will probably need to swap out the door locks and immobiliser to the donor car as this is in the ECU or find a mapper than can set this up for you.

The 1.8T has been done a few times and makes a monster upgrade on the Polo.

Thankfully VAG cars are modular which makes swaps between them a lot easier.
