Having done some research on the legalities of using veg oil in a diesel, it seems that site admin was WRONG (evil laugh)

Apparently as long as you register with customs and exise and pay the appropriate duty on the oil you can use it freely.

check out this site for more info

Suggested saving of £10 per half tank are easily possible.

On a high performance Seat Leon TDi Cupra R thats an effective 90mpg!!!!!

You never implied that duty had been paid. Therefore it was illegal - if duty is paid then it is legal. I think you can use Veggie oil in upto 50% mix with diesel for best effect!

(Please check with your vehicle manual to see if your diesel car will run on vegetable oil - if you use this it is AT YOUR OWN RISK and we assume that you have registered to pay fuel duty!)

Thanks for your tireless reasearch!

Now is there a petrol substitute that is cheaper than Vodka! When this gets out the fuel companies will be very miffed and the price of Chips will go up - well start having chip protests with blockades around potatoe fields - I see the anarchy already.

I used to run my Pug 1.8 GRD on Veggie Oil/Diesel but the mix was nearer 90%. Worked a treat and made me laugh at the same time!

Wait and see their faces when you pull up outside a weightwatchers meeting and start revving your engine

hahaha that made me laugh so much, so what we are saying is that if you wack some veggie oil in, you will get better MPG, what about performance, and how much is the veggie oil per litre in the first place? if i was to go out and stick some in a 307HDI it would work fine? Can you run completly on VegO?
Sorry new to this, and i wouldnt use it because ive got a petrol guzzler, just very interesting!

Is this safe on modern Diesels? I have seen an additive for sale to be used when you run on veggie oil but it doesn't say what it does? Personally I'd feel happier running 25% Veggie oil mix - the saving will still add up especially if you but the nasty cheap veggie oil!

my m8 was running his escort van on veggie oil. he said he started of doing 50-50 mix but as time went on it was more veggy oil.

He got pulled by customs and excise in tesco's car park. They obviously wanted to test his fuel. He was sh1tting it a bit, he'd been told they don't check for veg oil unless they are after u specifically.
He had been informed correctly, they tested his fuel and said it was fine. Seemingly they were just looking for red diesel.

close call tho.
