I thought that this article was a well reasoned explanation of the differences between the two ways of increasing power by forcing more air into an engine.

One of the differences that many new to the modification scene don't understand is that a belt driven supercharger is able to produce more power standing still by revving the motor whereas an exhaust driven Turbocharged motor needs to be under load to produce more power.
