Just something I've been thinking about;

Most people have a separate Oil Drain attached to the oil pan but I was wondering if anyone has ever used the Sump Plug as an oil drain for the Turbo? Would the stock sump plug be too low to act as a sufficient drain?

Cheers

Definitely what TCJ said. The oil return on a turbo is gravity return, so it's not pressurised. If you return oil to below the surface of the oil in the sump the weight of the oil will to all intent and purposes seal the tube, a bit like sticking your finger over the end, so the oil will not be able to return effectively. The upshot of this is that because the oil feed to the turbo is pressurised (slightly) the buildup of non returned oil will get sucked out of the bearing area and either into the air intake or the exhaust, neither is useful or desirable. Manufacturers go to great lengths to ensure reliability and efficiency, more so nowadays than ever before, so if its a custom fit, look at, and follow the manufacturers ideas, you won't go wrong.
