what are the most cost effective ways to increase power from the 1.9tdi 130 2003/53 plate. thanks

A straight-forwards remap is the most cost effective thing you cna do hands down.

Sorry should have said that I had done that already. When I got the car re mapped I was told it should be putting out between 160-170 bhp now. What would be the next point of call.

A bigger turbo, intercooler and another remap. The exhaust is fine on these. I guess weight reduction is the next mod you can do.

I think in reality you are at the upper end of affordable power gains, getting another 20-30bhp will cost £1,000's

Is there any way you can twin turbo these or if a bigger turbo is fitted how are the internals of the engine. Is it worth getting a panel filter ?

A good remap on a 130bhp model will give 175bhp without any other mods..

hybrid or bigger turbo. some are starting to use the turbo from the 3.0 audi Q7.

panel filter will do next to nothing mate. get rid of the cat would help slightly.
