Tuning BMW 728i

Hello guys,


I have bought a BMW 728i 1996, around 220 000 km. I was thinking to increase the horse power / torque on this engine.
What is the best thing i can do?
installing a new, modified cpu
or changing the sparkplugs / fuel pump
or any other idea's ?


I'm verry interested! If you perhaps have a repair manual or techical info about this car i would be gratefull!

The Bushes are usually shot on these so check they are in good condition, if not replace then to sharpen up the handling.

A lot will come down to your budget. Fitting a supercharger or fast road cams will make quite a big difference to power but you are looking at a fair investment.

An uprated fuel pressure regulator will give snappier acceleration (but not any more power).

A remap will only give you another 10% power which you will hardly notice in such a large heavy car.

Get the engine cleaned out and decoked as I'm sure it's not going to be running at it's full capacity.
