Towing

I'm thinking about fitting a towball to my car and towing the astra on a trailer to track days. What are the laws on towing and what is recommended. My focus weighs 1405kgs unladen and the Astra is around 1000kgs.

Apparently the rules are changing next year as well, might be prudent to remind all out TC members nearer the time to avoid any insurance related grief.

Just read that the change applies to people who pass their test after that date. Most of us have already passed but i know there a few who haven't

Then as I understand it the limit is 3 and a half tonne combined.

That is what I thought. So I have a tonne spare for the trailer. Just looked the the price of towing kits. £80 isn't bad I think. Though it is on ebay.

Not sure buddy. All I'd say is do abit of research before parting with any pennies.

Does your licence allow you to tow? Some wrongly assume they can but require a further test to pass. I think you will find the Astra and trailer is too much for the Focus. Check your owners handbook for towing limits, braked and unbraked will be stated.
