I own a '72 Datsun 240z and was pondering the idea of putting in a RB25DET. It seems to be THE motor people are putting in 240z's and 240sx's. Its much stronger than the L-24, and has a nicer sound.

The RD25DET im looking at costs $1,700 and comes with turbo, ignitor chip, ecu, wiring harness, RWD 5-speed tranny, alternator, starter, clutch, flywheel, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, injectorsm and cam angle sensor.

What else may i need?

What are the pro's and con's of this motor?

It's worth checking the engine mounts. I also assume that both engines are inline, swapping from transverse to inline can be a real pain.

It looks like you have all the bases covered. The RB25DET is a strong block. Don't push it too hard though without getting the mapping perfectly set. There are lots of upgrade options for it so you'll have a great base to work on when you feel you need a little more power. The standard wheels and tyres are quite thin IIRC so i'd upgrade these to give more traction and I'm not sure where the rear diff starts to complain.
