Hey All.

For those of you who remember me, I'm back, but without my RS4 & Range Rover Sport. I've changed to having 1 car... Don't worry I've not gone all sensible and bought something small and nippy that does 60+mpg.

Who wants to guess what I've bought? For the first time in ages I've ditched my obsession with 4 wheel drive. I had the Passat W8, Passat R36 and RS4 and two Range Rover Sports and 4 wheel drive... so I've gone rear wheel drive for some fun... combined with V8 power.

Any guesses as to what it is?? :p

I shall go for the SL55 AMG ;) Can't see it as being the CL55 or 63 I could be wrong off course :embarrest:

Not had chance to get the D-SLR out yet and take some nice photos like I did with the RS4, so please excuse the crap iPhone photos :)

Anyway... fantastic car, nowhere near as hard to handle as the media seem to portray (particularly TopGear). Down a back round the car seems just as composed as the RS4 was - naturally you can't get on the power as early out of a slow corner being RWD but it far from lacks grip and the engine is such a powerhouse compared to the 4.2 FSi V8 in the RS4. The RS4 was all about revs, naff all below 5500rpm then it went like a rocket but this thing has so much torque it goes like a rocket at any revs.

I think half the problem is the media got the 2008 launch cars which didn't have the 'Sports Handling Mode'. They had traction control ON or OFF. On its very intrusive and wants absolutely no wheel slip or backend movement, and OFF it bellows smoke from the rear tyres and you spend your life on opposite lock. The half way 'Sports Handling Mode' allows some wheel sleep, a reasonable amount of movement on the rear and in extreme circumstances seems to moderate the throttle as apposed to kill it totally. It's fantastic and makes for great fun without being uncontrollable. I've been driving it thus far in that mode every day. It's on 2010+ cars - which is why despite trying to get one for the best price possible, I made sure it was a 2010 car.

As for the remap, it'll be done on 27th April.. so about a month to wait. My friend who owns the tyre shop she's parked outside also has a C63. I've hired out the rolling road at Viezu in Bromsgrove all day, and we're going to take both up and see how much we can squeeze out of this naturally aspirated engine. Plenty of photos/video's shall be taken :)

Ruddy marvellous, you are in safe hands with Viezu! Can't wait to see the before and after results :amuse:
