We have just heard about guidelines for safety at Christmas. Pretty much every obvious thing you can think of has been compiled into a health and safety leaflet.

Lets do a Nanny state edition of health and safety in and around the car.

Here are my top obvious tips that are just crying out to be made into a fact sheet.

  1. The middle pedal will stop the car but it takes longer to work the faster you are going.
  2. A moving car will cause injury so stand well clear of them.
  3. The exhaust gets very hot in operation, do not touch it.
  4. Fingers, hands and feet should not be placed in the metal area around the door when closing it.
  5. Driving for 18 hours non stop will result in tiredness.
  6. Bald tyres give no grip in the wet.
  7. Flat tyres adversly affect the handling of your car. A flat tyre can be identified by the saggy bit of rubber at the bottom.
What other essential (but obvious) tips can you think of for our health and safety guide.
