Teddy's Track Slag.

I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense as I've whipped it straight from another forum.

I've been extremely quiet on this forum lately as I've been on PC2.
So here goes;

Ok, I got the car in April 2008, picked it up for £3,500 with one previous Lady owner. The car itself was in full working order apart from one of the washer jet hoses having a slight split in it, which caused a fault with one of the electronic fuel injectors by dripping water onto it. So first things first was to have that sorted. After that, you could tell the previous owner never really took any care for the way the car looked, scuffed wheels, dented doors, small scratches and never a polish since it left the show room!
So first things first was Window Tints, 94% on rear and 40% on front which was done by Ste at Solar Guard Tinting. Also purchased a set of Lexus smoked rear lights from CiTuning for £40.

DSCF1687.jpg

I then purchased a set of beat up alloys for £80, just to quickly get away from the Wheel Trim luck till I could afford a refurb or better set.

C2xcaradvert.jpg

Then after hating the bright standard nylon orange seats, I stripped out the rear and purchased a set of White|Black bucket seats.

I then decided I wanted a new exhuast, so I thought I would go for the VXR exhaust, the guys at Exhausts UK did an awesome job.

So after the seats I decided that I wanted to go for a White|Black scheme.
So the wheels were sent off to be powder coated white.

I then decided after a couple of months it was time to get the C2 noticed properly and spend a substantial amount of money on it.
I had two choices between a 2.0 GTI engine conversion or exterior modifications.
But my personal taste is too make the car look better rather than being obsessed with speed.
So I booked the car in for the following modifications.
-Complete re-spray, Audi white and Ford Panther black.
-Smoothed handles.
-Smoothed side repeaters.
-Smoothed aerial.
-Badges removed + smoothed.
-Old exhaust recess smoothed.
-Rear window wiper removed.
-Rear window jet removed + smoothed.
-Door side strips smoothed.
-Door poppers fitted.
-HotTuning Coilovers fitted, 80mm front, 70mm Rear.
-Angel eye headlights fitted.
-Internal Aerial fitted.

The loom out. Just a picture so you can all appreciate the size and complication of a loom.

I think you've just hit the record for the most posts made by a new member in a short time! Keep up the good work, it is an impressive project.

wow that is awesome! cant wait to see what happens next! if you dont mind me asking whats it all cost you so far?! looks to be a substancial amount!

Yeah. It has cost a fair bit of money... Mainly because I was young and eager to get literally any mod I could done to my car rather than going down a specific route I wanted to take. So it started out with the plan of becoming a show car, hence the re-spray, smoothing so on and so forth... But then I got bored of all the show and no go. So decided I want to use it nothing more than for the track.

I think, so far I've spent around 6k on the car, and as you can tell... Nothing to show for it. Obviously I've sold things and go my money in return, so I would say I'm out of pocket by about 3k. All because I was being stupid when I first had the car.

Atleast I'm on the right track now, knowing exactly how I want the car to look.

I'm hoping that I can have the car finished with around 5k. So it's a year long project as I'm still a student.

As you get older your outgoings get more and more due to life changing circumstances, make the most of now before it's too late! My mods are still ongoing as and when money allows! I'm only too grateful I still have a car to play around with, it's the only thing that keeps me sane.................ish :amuse:

that is one hell of a project just two things, i would have kept the lexus lights they looked nice and dude ugg boots? seriously :/

Wow, not been on here for a while.

Not much to update as of yet, the new engine is at the garage. Just need to get the car transported up there. The car is being turbo'd now, it will be built up just running a low boost until the car is fully finished, including body work. And then all parts will be upgraded to give it a more aggressive boost.

I've not got many pictures to update with, but here are a small few.

First things are strip down the engine and see what sort of condition it is, already been told it needs the clutch replacing.

Okay, so dragged the tool box and crane outside ready to crack on with a few little things.

Hoisted up the engine on the crane.

Removed the starter motor... now you can appreciate why changing the starter motor on a C2 would cost so much in labour as it's at the back of the engine!

Okay, managed to get the engine down to the new workshop today after a triumphant challenge!

I was going to take some pictures of the new house I'm moving into, but by the time we were finished it was pitch black. I will get some snaps next week when I'm back up there.

We just threw the engine into the back of the Clio and drove it down.

Well as many of you know the initial plan was to run it with ITB's, but I have now fully decided to turbo the C2. Just for the sheer fact it will be awesome.

Met up with a friend today who has a turbo'd Paxo. We went through all the different routes and ideas we could think of.

So after a few humming and argh'ing we came up with this initial idea of getting the car completely ready for track, it's as follows;

Get the car transported down to the garage.

I will then purchase a standalone MegaSquirt ECU. I will be using a VTS engine, rather than the GT because of the pistons. But I will use the GT engine so I can build up the loom and get the management working, then once I know that all works, sell the GT engine and purchase a VTS one.

Once the ECU and engine has been purchased, along with the loom being sorted, it will be time to start buying the parts for the conversion and fabricating a few things. The first plan is going to be running a low boost, and then eventually upgrade everything for a more aggressive one.

Once all the engine is ready to go into the car, the engine bay will be sprayed up, along with having the subframe powder coated. I will also be using a new set of coilovers and putting in new bushes. New wheels and a drivers seat will also be purchased along with uprated brakes and a rear disc conversion.

Once the car is running, the interior will be sprayed and then the cage fitted along with the perspex windows.

The body work will have to wait a while. But this is hopefully going to be done by Trax in September to make a debut on the track.

Wow - impressive stuff. It looks like you're really cracking on. The cam profiles look quite mild to me, i'd assume they are standard.

Yeah the cams are standard. I was told when I took delivery of the engine it had aftermarket cams... Obviously not.

i would have gone straigh in with vts even if you were going ITBS better engine, can you not cram a 2.0 vts in? that would be mental on turbo

I'm using a VTS engine now as it's being turbo'd. I'm just going to use the GT engine in regards to getting the management all set up on a standalone. Then I will sell the GT engine and purchase a VTS lump.

Whats the difference then? I thought the engines were exactly the same.

The pistons in the GT are slightly taller than they are in the VTS, giving it a high compression rate. So ideally, the VTS with lower compression would be better.

Good stuff. Clutch looks ok? Not sure about the flywheel though, looks a bit worn but hard to tell from the pics.

That AP pedal box is the shiz.

There are quite a few people reading this thread looking at the stats but we've not had any updates from you in a while any updates on this project - or have you moved on to another one?

What are your plans for the future?
