I have taken a leaf out of Colin Chapmans way of doing things (for more speed increase lightness) and reduced the weight of my Type R by 50kg's by removing the spare wheel, tool kit and rear seats and that has made the car very noticeably louder .

I weighed all the bits on a digital platform scale.

I have also ordered a set of stiff / rigid collars that will tighten up the front end by removing any play where the cross member bolts to the chassis subframe as that should make the front end slightly more direct. Will be getting them fitted by my suspension specialist when they arrive from Tegiwa in GB shortly after Xmas and will get the wheel alignment checked and reset at the same time.

Will report my findings after my first track day in the new year.

PS for those who don't know Colin Chapman he founded LOTUS cars :D

I thought that you only had to do that if you had an Elan like Steve :D

I think he has had a long enough sabbatical and needs to finally get serious about finishing the worlds fastest Elan.

And you haven’t even started drilling holes in everything? ;)

But seeing that I can't or don't want to drill holes in everything except the fuel tank like Steve I have decided to lighten the driver who is now 2kg lighter.:D

Have also considered only having the tank 1/2 full and topping up as needed when it reaches around 1/4 full as that may shave the odd fraction of a second off my times.

Driver now 5 kg lighter |B

Bought a set of semi forged wheels that are 2kg's lighter each and had my track semi's refitted onto them.

Looking forward to my next track day to find out if all the weight losses add up to a better lap time.

Track day was a wet one so no PB's recorded but managed to keep it on the tarmac and drive home unlike 3 who had to hire a towie .
