Tax and your car buying choices

Does the amount of annual road tax you have to pay for a car affect the choice you make when choosing a car?

Does the annual tax make much of a difference to you or is the fuel consumption figures something that has a bigger effect on your selection?

Not in the slightest, I am in a fortunate position whereby the tax amount is no burden to my wallet and therefore will never be a deciding factor on the car I buy.

not really, dont think ive ever owned a car which is more than £135 for 6 months

It wasn't really a factor but it's nice knowing I only pay £130 a YEAR!!

i buy a car because i like it. £220 for 12 months is what i paid a couple of weeks ago which i am happy with. im sure my n/a V6 was more than that but it just fell into the new tax bracket whereas the new car is older and an import

Right! but the best car you can offord. Or buy the cheepest car you can. Don't dither about in the middle cos you'll never be satified...Everything or nothing!

I just buy pre-2001 models so the tax is based on vehicle weight and I can get away with poisoning the environment with gas guzzling yank iron

Yeah, that's why I bought a pre 2006 3.2. So I only pay 270 quid and not 440. Never understand the tax thing really. Its ok to pollute as long as you are rich.
