t4 autobox fault

hi, anybody had much to do with t4 autobox probs, the chap next door has a problem which he has spent a fortune on trying to fix. not knowing much about vw transporters i wondered if i could post & see what comments you all have. when he selects drive or reverse the engine just stalls out the only way to drive the van is keep knocking it into neutral. he supposedly had the gearbox rebuilt fleeced of over a grand & been back n forth to the garage. any thoughts thanks

Without knowing the full story it's difficult to advise but if it's as simple as your version, i'd be taking it back to the garage and asking/telling them to fix it properly. Failing that, take legal action. I really wouldn't be getting involved in something which may revoke any potential warrenty.

thanks, he is taking it back ,the garage seem to think there is some sort of switch linked to the braking system bit like a brake pedal swtch sounds like that could be linked to it stalling . will let you know how he gets on.
