When I read articles on suspension it tells me how low a street car can go off the ground for example 35mm but where is that measured from. And my question is where is the 35mm measured from?

Usually the 35mm relates to how much lower than standard an aftermarket suspension kit will take your car. 35mm or 40mm are probably the two most common drops on fixed height suspension kits because for a lot of cars that's the best compromise between style and handling.

Obviously coilover kits allow you greater control over the ride height and also the damping force so that you can find a height/force setting that feels best for how you drive.

Obviously dropping the car too much will mess up your handling and really defeats the whole point... unless you're a fan of lowriders and just want your car to bounce on hydraulics
