Hello all, was just wondering whether I should keep my old struts and have uprated springs or new coilovers. Im asking this because I had a cheap (£200) set of coilovers fitted which during my last MOT the mechanic shook my hand and said I shouldnt still be alive. Not sure if im better stickin with trusty vw parts and expensive springs or trying to fork out several hundred for decent coilovers.

You could split the difference and get a good spring and damper setup like some Bilstein B12's?

Besides you can't really get "expensive" springs due to the fact there is only so much you can do with just springs before they become greatly unmatched to the damper.

Cheers il have a look into that. Just thought a moderate drop in height say 40mm with say eibach springs all round would be sufficient and improve ride enough. Was lowered 80mm last time an on the roads in this country the ride was spine shattering.
