Some sites endorse using your air conditioning during the winter to keep everything running smoothly and not leave air conditioning unused for 7-9 months. Have you had any positive or negative experiences doing this?

I can say positive or negative but I have always flicked on on and off through the winter just so the pump turns and circulates the gases and I will say a lot of new cars automatically run the air con system as default you actually have to turn it off.

I always do this, it also clears the moisture from the air and you are less prone to fog up.

It won't work below a certain temp anyway, typically around 5 degrees, but if you can you should in my book.
