Setting goals and benchmarks

In all of my driving history I have a marker point on a road and a start point that I use to see how close to 60mph I can get. As my cars get faster the distance gets shorter.

Does anyone else do this? Do you have a target speed by a marker point?

The way i do it is to see how far i can get from my house to a local town, which is about 12 miles away - even with traffic. I used to drive this road everyday for about 5 years (its a country road although an 'A'). The Scooby is the fastest car i've had but also the most expensive so tend to not raz it as hard as some previous cars - but this is definately faster than anything else i have driven on the same stretch.
