I had the excellent luck of seeing a MK1 RS Mexico the other day. An instant classic if you ask me.

Does anyone know how many were made and how many are left? I haven't seen one for years and the last one I saw practically run me off the road.

£12k and you get a cheap 1970's pancake airfilter!

I saw an orange one about 2 weeks ago, still makes you look. My wife saw a mk2 RS2000 on Sunday, I was surprised she remembered them!

mk1s are still in high demand and we still have a few running round new zealand but sadly most mk1s n mk2s get the rally car treatment and all the metal is thrown away and fiberglass is installed roll cages and big engines, weight reductions ect ect, and then they get written off in an accedent or something as they get rallied.

i wish people would just buy old school rally cars and not convert standard mk1 n mk2 escorts, sigh the old cars are starting to dissapear.... r.i.p.

I guess it keeps the values quite high though MK1. It is very sad that cars are getting trashed in Rally's when they should be cherished and used at weekends only.

yeah i know but it saddens me to see them written off :(:(

but i guess each to there own ae..

im gnna b using mine as my everyday car when i get a gearbox n warrent..

How do you think rallycars are made? they start off as road cars (unless you're a works team)

Did the manufacturers have to make a certain amount of road going production cars first before they could make a works rally car Claymore/ or am I thinking of something else! :embarrest:

'claymore: How do you think rallycars are made? they start off as road cars (unless you're a works team)' well they have made plenty of mk1 nd mk2 escorts into rally cars and you can buy them as rally/track cars without destroying a perfectly good road car, but hay thats just my opinion espeshily with the rs models and the 2 door models ohwel i guess it means more parts, except that i would rather see more people driving the originals..
