I've not seen any SAABs at any of the car shows. Does this mean that SAAB owners are so happy with their cars performance that they don't modify them?

The obvious mod in my mind would be weight reduction as they are very heavy cars. Saab have been innovators in engine design and turbo design so provide a pretty attractive base to work from.

SAAB are awsome for moding, I had a 9000 fpt and that was 225bhp (standard). with a map it went to 320 and only cost £300. the car could do 160mph (on private runway) but then threw a rod out of the side of the block. Saabs are really good for tuning and at the moment practical preformance car mag is running a section on fitting a 9000 fpt engine into a mark 2 escort. and a couple of months ago they showed how to get 500bhp out of one. The only prob with SAAB are they are fwd and suffer from lots of bump steer at standard power and are horendus when tunned, I intended to put one into a stripped out manta shell but the wife nagged and the shell went befor I got a chance.

Hi Gary and welcome to TorqueCars (Sorry i'm a bit late - i've been away!).

Thats a pretty good power gian for £300 its such a shame about the rod. I suspect the oil was not up to the stresses of the power run.

Shame the Manta shell project was booted! I'd like to have sen that. Tell your wife it is a present for her!;)

My car is modded. I have a nordic stage 3 tuning now with a 3" Downpipe, Front Mount Intercooler, 3.5bar Fuel Pressure Regular and NGK 7-11 series Spark plugs.Quite happy
