The little 100R is in need of a new exhaust system. The original mild steel frankensystem is corroded & a recent repair hasn't held, so now it's time source a new one.

I've had a quote for a full custom made 2" Stainless Steel system of £400 fitted, by a local & highly recommended firm. Having not bought anything like this before I was wondering if the price sounds about right to you lot. :amuse:

Cheers,

Loz.

Is that £350 just for the full system? I think he said it will be cheaper if I go for the de cat.
i paid £300 for a 2.5" turbo back they put the original cat back on but iirc the sports cat was £80
and i had it done here i know some people have issues with powerflow but i wouldnt recommend them if they wasnt any good;)

It's a Powerflow franchise (Unique exhausts) I spoke to, the guy who was recommended to me is based in Stafford. Hmm, now I don't know which one to go to!
I'll pop over to Kingswinford tuesday & have chat with them being as their only 10 min down the road.

He included a little extra labour because he said there's a bit of fettling required to get the exhaust through the rear subframe. It'll be interesting to see what the other company says tuesday, being as their the same franchise.

Just noticed this evening that Reyland do a 2.25 system for £325 plus fitting but I've heard one of their cars & it's louder the mine, I don't think my neighbours would see the funny side!

Another good thing about powerflow is you can tell them how load you want it;)
But if you do go for a powerflow make sure you go for the yearly check to keep the lifetime guarantee valid;)unlike me:(

It's like everything else you buy, you get what you pay for. The exhaust system is a vital part of the engine package. Get it wrong and you can lose a lot of power, especially torque.

Don't go too big, 2" is probably about right for your power output. Avoid sudden changes of direction and make sure bends are made using a mandrel so the pipe isn't restricted.

Agreed OG, I don't want a huge bore system anyway, one that just works well is fine, ideally a smaller bore will be easier to thread around the rear sub frame.
I'm off to Kingwinford tomorrow for a quote didn't make it the other week!

Well the car's booked into a place in Stafford next Tuesday (1st June) still having the same Powerflow system but the guy fitting it comes highly recommended.

Actually it's gone up! The other place kept trying flog me a decat & would only offer a standard cat when I asked for one, now I'm getting a sports cat for a bit extra. I think it's ceramic instead of metal, or is it the other way round I'm not sure. Any whoo now I have to decide what tailpipe I want to finish it off, I thought I might go for an 8 inch party keg sized one, what do you think? :amuse:

*slight edit*
Just seen the price at the top & it's less than £400 now, d'oh!

Really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really chuffed with my new exhuast!

I couldn't ask for more it's well made, the welds are neat & tidy, he's managed to reduce the booming I get inside the car by quite a lot even without sound proofing in the car!
The exhaust note is more raspy with less of the resonance the old system had, in fact it reminds me of the sound Sports cars used make when I was knee high to a socket set.

It fits a lot better too & I noticed a lot less clonks & rattles on the way home.

I also had a decat pipe fitted too so once the ECU's got used ot that it'll be interesting to see how the car goes now. :amuse:

The end price was £280, which made me smile & he dropped the old worn out cat in the car too which I hadn't expected! :amuse:

Here are some piccies...

Looks spot on. Get a video up will give you a chance to use all those gadgets you have lying aboot. Shouldn't this lot be in your project thread?

Cheers guys!
S'good point MA, I'll put a video in the WIP thread, been a bit slow on that thread but I have just bought a rear sub frame brace and a some droop stops. All of which will be fitted in my new lair, more on that soon too. ;)

Very Nice Indeed :p

I paid £250 for a Back End Bore Exhaust from Powerflow on my white celica, and everyone thought I was off my Head but worth every penny after it was fitted. Powerflow Highly Recommanded.

On the red celica I was £350 for Middle Section to Back with a Sports Back Box.

So £280 is a good price :p

What are droop stops!? Sure they go on your car? lmao!

Loz, really like the finish on the tailpipe, and for only 280 quid looks well worth it. years ago my dad got pissed at the exhaust going on his escort all the time and so bought a full Scorpion for 400 quid, expensive at the time but outlasted the car

Thanks guys, don't forgot I haven't had a cat fitted so there was a significant saving made there, also Phil had a cat pipe already made up in the shop and only charged me half the quoted price for that.
But as much as I like the extra power I don't feel right driving about in a slightly illegal car so I think I'm going to buy a 100 cell sports cat in the near future.
The guy who made my system up works for himself out of a small unit in Stafford and all he does is powerflow exhausts and a nice chap too, I'll definitely have him fit a system on my next car. :D

I have had a powerflow cat back system from kingswinford last saturday only cost me £200 on my laguna estate very pleased with mine its not to loud unless you accelerate hard i would use them again will put some pics up at some point.
