Just was wondering what Alfas they use in the James Bond movie, do they really have DBS performance, and can you enlighten one of us state side car nuts?

159 mate and none of the varients are anywhere near DBS performance. Only in the movies :amuse:

Did a little research after your help. Has a 260hp V6 and is rumored to be the first Alfa to be introduced into the Americas since the 164, which only sold 500 cars total!!!

Surely movies could be made with some realism. A slew of M3's or C63's giving chase would have made for a much more realistic chase scene!!!!!

With all the money invested in cinema, you would think that the directors would pay more attention to the details and not go with the manufacturer that comes to the table first with a suitcase full of money\cars!!!!

HE,HE So wescott you think the cars featured in films are all sponsored! Surely not!

A 260bhp Alfa with a supercharger and some other mods would stand more of a chance against an AM. Although that said a low power car can be just as quick as a more powerfull one on bends. It's when you see a 106GTi keeping up with a Mitsubishi Evo on a very tight twisty course that makes you think.

I do agree that the movies could be more realistic. But perhaps that would take out all the fun and you can't give the bad guys AM's as well!

The reason I speculated Alfa was sponsoring this movie was because not only the bad guys were driving Alfa, but so were the police. Way too many of the same brand in a movie to be coincidence IMO.

I agree on the low power car can be competitive in the twistys. I took my stealth into the hill country here in Texas and gave my friends new Vette a run for his money but it would not have been my first choice to bring to a gun fight if I were a well financed and crafty bad guy.

What country was the chase scene set in? I can't remember. In Italy, the police do use mainly Alfa's.

159 police cars in Angels and Demons also.

In italy the rozzers do use Alfas and Fiats but not solely...
In the movies its not quite sposorship when you see blatant advertising like big Alfa badges chasing around 007. its called "product placement" and the big names spend a fortune getting their brands in there... (think casino royale: "and i bet you wear a big fancy watch, what is it? a rolex?" "No, its an OMEGA" lol).
I reckon i could keep up with bond in his DBS in my 156 :p
