Okay after much discussion, thought and investigation Iam taking Puma racing no 023, of the 500 built, into supercharger street. I was at first thinking of nitrous but am not overly keen on that just yet, so will likely fit nitrous to one of the other cars.

I have three pumas, two are just street ragging cars....023 is currently getting poly bushes, A LIMITED SLIP DIFF, a new gearbox, the battery is heading into the rear, to even up weight distribution, a new 200 plus bhp clutch, an engine mounting damper and a bit of a tune up via the ecu, and now the supercharger.

I have yet to decide which one but I want to come out with around 220-240 bhp, dont think I need any more...sp will talk to rotrex and eaton to get an idea of the best option...

once I have puma 2 and puma three purchaased I am planning puma 2 to go nitrous, or super charger if the super charger on puma 023 goes well. Puma 3 is going track day tool and I am just toying with the twin engine option, or a complete new engine, maybe a hayabusa or a zx 1400 engine..

Just thoughts right now and to be honest just because either options would be an interesting engineering project...I would like to get 300bhp into a puma racing chassis and see how she goes..my aim is to get the puma track car down to at least 900kg...not sure how feasible that is yet, got to do the weigh bridge and start the task...will post photos once I get started on the other cars, just waiting for an lsd box from Pumabuild right now...

Keep us posted this sounds pretty interesting I hope you pull it off and I'm, sure we can offer pointers if you get stuck along the way.

yes the duratec conversion is a good option and if i can get my act together may be the way to go...

so as of today it looks like i am not going to find an LSD box for the car quickly so i am going to put her with nitrous first, simplest conversion and will be the quickest option...buying kit tomorrow form WON...

will post up photos once i have the gear...

after all the plans this first one is going nitrous, puma two is going to go with a druatec engine for 250 or 300 bhp, puma three will go with a supercharger, maybe, unless I can be convinced there is a better handling more modern car, say a focus st or maybe an escort cossie...

280hp+ is a piece of cake from the Duratec on standard turbo, smart move imho. Focus ST won't have a patch on the Puma handling-wise. Big wallowing beasts they are. Never driven an Escos myself but would love to.

thats music to my ears, I have always reckoned the FRP is the best coupe out there handling wise,... need more information on the duratec units. I am going to get two more racing pumas. However if i put the duratec unit in I am going to need to basically change the whole front end...will this ruin the handling...hmm will need a fair amount of work, ideally i would like to use the suspension, hubs and drive shafts of the puma and run them into the focus box, which duratec unit should I start with...

Duratec-RS 212hp, Pumabuild have built one already IIRC so it might be worthwhile speaking to Alan if you know him well enough. Doubtful you will ruin the handling, okay so you're adding a bit more weight over the front but this can be compensated for with coilover adjustments.

The FRP is GREAT and I think everyone should drive one. Right performance bargain at the moment. They're just underpowered to start with imo.

I will do this if i can get around 300 bhp...no less...I am looking into the supercharger route also...2 grands worth of nitrous going on 0023, mind you her box has just dumped all her oil and that needs sorting. Suspect the drive shaft oil seal...hope it hasnt screwed my new clutch...or maybe its juts the filler screw? who knows, boys will check tomorrow...

simple fault with the gearbox, just the rubber popper on top of the gearbox, phew that was good...and tracking being sorted. nitrous should arrive today...that will be fun, want to do some basic 0-60 times prior to fitting and see how she goes...

Phew, glad it was simple. 300hp easy on standard turbo and fairly cheap. You'll need a remap (generic will do), decat or sportscat, tubular manifold, cone , Roose inlet hose and Forge recirc with Forge adjustable actuator running direct will see over 300hp. Can add full Roose bost hoses and better cat-back exhaust if you want but it's not essential. Also have the option of a decent boost controller, hybrid tubby, uprated fuel pump and live map which can see over 350hp.

tel me more about the duratec unit...which engine should i be fitting, i understand some have tried to do it with the 2.5 v6 unit...think that will be too heavy...what are your thoughts...

will be getting pumabird 4 this weekend and pumabird 5 is alreadydestined for outer space...Sadly I have three boys who keep borrowing my toys so to ensure I have a car for me to use I buy them in multiples...however we are thinking of doing a few track days with the old girls so setting them up for such is the plan...

and you have now given me the idea for the name of each car...thanks for that...you are a star, FRP 1 is now pumabird 1. (nitrous) will get logos made up, frp 2 (supercharger) will be pumabird 2, and frp 3 (Duratec unit)will be pumabird 4, pumaspeed will stay as pumaspeed, and pumamod, is going to become pumabird 3 (its red..it just had to be..) and I dont have pumabird 5 in mind just yet...we will see...

pumabirds are go
