when i joined torque cars, there was only 1 other member who owned a prelude, now theres more and more prelude owners joining

this is good for a no. of reasons
1, not that they give much trouble, but its handy to have a no, of people
with preludes as help and questions can be answered

2, great sports car and they have great potentiol in the tuning part of things, tips and advise could be talked about more now due to the growing members

3,scourcing parts for the prelude i find is a little headache, i know america is hugely popular with the prelude, and recently got my suspension bushes sorted for under 200 euros,
having members from all around the word is essentiol to scoucing other parts on the cheap

so as a prelude owner myself, id like to take this oppertunity to welcome all the new comers, and hope that prelude owners grow bigger and bigger

say hello here if you own a prelude so that members know who's who:D

I'll second that mate, the more the merrier! ;)
indeed,
prelude owners visit this site once in awhile, im trying to get them visit more regularly by posting tips and help from my knoledge, hopefully they will do the same, so the prelude will be a popular topic such as the civic, (hopefully anyway):D

I'm a former Prelude owner (back in 1990) does that count ;) I had a mk2 1983 1.8 12valve twin carb engine producing an almighty 107bhp. I thought that was the fastest thing on the planet back then although I was only 18 years old and stupid

If anyone knows where or even if the old girl is still around then please let me know.

i love that shape lude:D

Take a look at my pictures in the photo's section, there's some more shots of the old girl and my current 'toy' the Blue Rocket :D These were taken obviously pre digital camera's so didn't take many shots :(
The body kit was very rare and I've certainly never seen one again but just think back in the late 80's most kids were lucky to get a mini or fiesta and I got a unique, what was then prestige make, Prelude with electric windows, mirrors, sunroof, power steering, abs etc etc I was made up I tell you. I always wanted the 150 bhp 4 wheel steer mk 3 but it never materalised and now they're pretty rare, everyone wants vtec power.

Remember the Accord estate, Aerodeck I think they called it. A work colleuge had one 'F' plate and that had cruise, air con etc etc fully loaded! And what did the cavalier and sierra's have, huh naff all!! Honda's were great in there day with the Pelude, CRX, Legend v6 and the mighty NSX  All dedicated models for there purpose, not like the adapted hatchbacks like you get today.

old 1s are the best

as a honda lover, i hate saying that hondas of today are becoming less and less good looking

they lack the sporty look, its all eco friendly stuff bla bla

i dont think il go over 1999 for a honda, its like they employed to many space intrested freaks to design their cars
to me honda are going backwards design wise
il never knock their technoligy though

Hi Guys,
I'm very new to the forum. I'm Tony, from Northern Ireland. I have had a variety of cars to date mainly classics, the Prelude Mk 4 being the latest. At the moment I have a 1978 Scimitar SE6A, 1969 Land Rover Airportable and of course the prelude.
A further testimony to how good these cars are was proved yesterday to me. I bought her two days ago, she'd just ran out of MoT and had been lying up for some 8 months. I drove her for a day and a half which cleaned the brakes up a little, i didn't have the time to do the normal things like a complete service before taking her for MoT. She passed first time out. The only thing I have to do is replace the driver side electric window motor as the teeth are well worn and the window wasn't working. She has a bit of rust in the usual areas but this is something I can easily rectify myself.
You can't ask better than that I reckon.
What really was nice was that I paid £500 cash for her as is. I've got to admit, i'm well happy with that.
Problem is now is that I got her as a daily reliable car but I can't help but look at pics of modified preludes (especially the JDM look) and think, hhhhmmmmmmmm, I like that a lot!!

bonjour!
gotta say when it was possible for me to insure a sports car i went for a prelude straight away! i absolutley love them!
must say the 5th gen is the best!

Dear all prelude nutters.

I recently brought a 1992 jap import 2.2 SI vtec. Does anyone know how to take the restrictor off?

It has electric speedo reading in KPH.

I can desable the restrictor by removing the speed sensor, but that also desables the speedo & it wont go into vtec.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

jc if you grabbed a p28 ecu out of a civic you can chip it eliminating the revlimiter

Hi I'm new to the site and just wanted to say that I love preludes just as much as you guys and hope to get some valuable information from you guys on the prelude. I'm currently trying to update all of my old parts on my car. Sadly mine was second hand when I got it and these previous owner didn't take care of her as they should have. But I'd greatly appreciate anyone that has any performance tips for my 99 base prelude I'm getting very close to dropping some money in performance now.

Greetings crimsonknight21 and a Warm Welcome to our TorqueCars Forum my Friend!

Good to have you along with us :)

You need to stick too what performance companies gets good feedback from the Prelude fraternity really.
I use what works for Saab so I have no complaints, but because they work, I have no problem endorsing that particular company's skills, that way everyone benefits :)

Thanks for the input I'll consider those brands in my choice but I'll also try and search around and see what others are saying about it all. Also by the way would anyone know where to purchase a supercharger kit for a 99 prelude??

you should contact
tgm motorsport they are down south
tdi north in warrington
these are the 2 main companies that people with dc5s use honda specialists

I had seen those Andy, but as crimsonknight21 lives in Slidell in Louisiana in the States, I thought that company was a good place to start :)

I didnt look at where he lives. Im sure if they could help they could something out most companies ship abroad just a thought??

Yes indeed, I know some places ship out to the States with no issues at all, but I think the taxes the Americans add to it at the other end has an ouch involved :sad2:

I appreciate the input fellas but ima have a look around online I just figured there might be a preferred site or company that other luders dealt with for these types of items.

^^ Exactly! Also they should be able to steer you away from making any costly errors with you buying the wrong things by mistake ;)
