porsche boxter sat nav trouble

my friend is having trouble with his sat nav. the screen doesn't light up anymore and you can only just barely see it in sunlight.

he's got another one from salvage but it does the same. Coincidence ??

it's a 2002 model and has the pcm1 sat nav installed. Any ideas ??

not sure but the screen may be backlit may be the bulbs or leds may have went.

Could be a fuse in the supply to the backlight that has gone. It would be unusual for both to go (sorry I missed this post)

what ever it is it has to go to porsche they dont like any one touching there cars ythey keep all there wire info a big secret

thanks for the responses. The person he bought the second unit off is going to test it to see if it works. Then if it does he will help him install it. hopefully they'll find what's wrong !!

if its a becker unit which porches usually are there are service centers just look em up on tinterweb
