i want to stick a bigger engine in my standard 1.4 polo ideally i would like it to bolt straight in any ideas

The 1.8T Golf engine's a good shout. So is the supercharged G40 engine from the Mk3 Polo

For most engine mods that are not from a Polo you will need custom engine mounts but as these modifications have been done loads of times before there are plenty of kits around with suitable engine mounts.

1.6 drops right in
1.8t has been done plently. however you will need to get the suspension and brakes sorted out before swapping the engine.
also you wont need to go mad with power even a reamp would take it up to around 180-195bhp depending on engine - dont bother looking for the BAM or AMK engines as these go for silly money - which will be more than enough for the polo to handle. remember these are meant as little city cars
