Hi all, I'm Shannon from Malaysia. Just registered today. I currently own a Peugeot 607 2.2 petrol. I was researching on bolting on a turbo to my 607 that I stumbled upon this page. My purpose of giving my 2.2 a performance upgrade is that I feel the car is too sluggish in town drive and it feels like I'm driving a tank.. it's solid but I want more torque. I've read the 607 tuning guide but then now my question is if I were to bolt on a turbo what turbo do I use? And if I bolt on a supercharger, what supercharger should I use. And then after bolting on those things do I keep the original ecu or do I have to fit an extra aftermarket ecu. Or just use one aftermarket ecu. It is my dream to install either the 2.2HDI or the 2.7HDI engine but there's 0 of those cars there. If bolting on isn't an option, how about using the 508 2.2 diesels engine then? And if I do use the 508 what ecu do I need to use?

I really appreciate your input as Malaysians aren't good with pugs. We have specialists but only specialists that know the usual hiccups of a pug, but definitely not modding one.

Hello and welcome Shannon |B

It seems that you have done a bit of thinking about which way to go with your car and have a lot of questions .

My experience is with petrol power and your Pug is gas powered firstly you will need to research the strength of the bottom end as when you add boost the "dynamic compression ratio" increases dramatically.

IMO which ever way you decide to go it will not be a cheap exercise to do it properly.

IF you can I would also think about trading the Pug for something with the performance you seek.

I wish I could, but my pug's value wouldn't even reach the value of a used 2007 Myvi if traded in.
So what would your advice be when strapping on a supercharger? And which supercharger to strap on? Would a 2.3kompressor engine' supercharger work?

I think that a MB 2.3 s/charger would be an ideal choice given it is used on a similar capacity engine.

You will have to find or make a suitable mounting bracket and I would think that you should restrict the boost to say 5psi.

IF possible the fueling and AFR's should be checked on a dyno for safety's sake as you don't want it running lean as that will lead to detonation and things going bang.

Thank you . I really appreciate it. So I can't actually start the car after installing the supercharger? How does it usually work. N what do I do for the ecu?

You can start and drive it but don't get up it before the AFR's have been checked.Don't know if your EMS can be tweaked if not maybe a fuel only piggyback computer will be needed.

Is there a tuning workshop near you as I would recommend that you talk to them about your car and if the existing computer can be adjusted or if it needs another EMS.

They do a lot of turbo cars or easy pnp ones. Not high level difficulty like Peugeot but I'll try.

Apexi, megasquirt and similar can work really well on these, the stock ECU can usually be mapped though but you might need to uprade the air flow sensor and fuelling/injectors to get this working.

You will also need to lower the compression ratio or you'll get knock.

An engine swap is usually the easiest way to go, and get a donor car with ECU and sensors, and in some cases locks for the immobiliser and you'll be good to go.

So what brand airflow sensor and injectors do I upgrade to? The 2.3 kompressor that Im going to get the supercharger from?

Sorry but I don't know much about the intricacies of this engine, I'm an Audi man myself. Hopefully someone on here will spot this thread and chip in with their suggestions.

This is something to discuss with the mapping company, they will be setting everything up. For Bosch ecu setups it makes sense to go with bosch injectors etc...

Your fuel and air requirements will depend very much on how much boost you can get away with so it would be to open ended a question for us to guess.
