peugeot 206 1.6 hdi or 2.0 hdi?

which is the engine to have? which would respond best to a remap? perfomance stats? any help would be good

bigger base is normally better to work on however the 1.6Hdi is showing as more powerful. not sure but the later 2.0Hdi were 136Bhp but not sure if these were fitted to the 206

celtic tuning show the following

1.6 148bhp and 243ftlb after mapping 110 and 180 standard
2.0 129bhp and 213ftlb after mapping 90 and 155 standard

THe 1.6 HDi has an intercooler and delivers just about the same torque and power and the earlier intercooled 2.0 HDi.

The 2.o HDi in the 306 has no intercooler in 90bhp tune. If you were to fit one and then remap you'll porbably get a better result than a remapped 1.6 HDi

IF you were to chuck loads of money at it then the 2.0 hdi would be better...all the way...

you can get crazy power out of them if you get it done right....

with an intercooler on the 2.0 hdi you;d be looking at over 150 bhp and more than 260 lbft torque....don't forget that the 1.6 is a 16v and the 2.0 is an 8v so bhp gains will be similar to a point but the torque will be more on the 2.0 because it is a big capacity....

I'd got for the 2.0...there are more tuning options for them....
