one for Oilman... best for 2.9 VR6?.

Hello,

currently been running magnatec 10w40 semi, but engine is now sounding but tappey and since heatwrapping my 6 branch, oil temps have been up as much as 8degrees!

most of the vr6 boys recommend quantum syntac silver 10w40, but i was thinking would a 5w40 fully synthetic do the trick? if so what do you recommend?
