ok. here goes.

Car: BMW E30 325i touring. auto.

owner: ME

Plans: keep it going... possibly upgrades at a later date!

sorry to hear about your incedent buddy, i had one like that last year before i was driving my bmw, we didnt go through the insurance company's she just tried to sting me through the main dealer for £600, but thankfully got my dads body shop to pick up the car and repair the damage for £300, keep us posted on the project

my gear box is now

this is taking the biscuit. anyone know what could be wrong with it? it drives backwards, but won't go into any forward gear. hope it's not going to be too expensive!

could be something with the gear box. if it was the drivetrain it would be N for reverse aswell. hmm id really have to have a look to be sure but since i live in new zealand.. maybe someone else will know for sure.

Thanks blue, it is 100% the gearbox, but what with the gear box i don't know. and being so close to xmas, i'm not going to get a chance to pull it apart untill the new year!

Being carless over the holidays is going to suck big time!

quick update, new box sourced, been without the car for a while now. starting to get to me, so when i'm not working i'll be working on the car. aside from now, when i'm haveing a JD and coke. (read pepsi)

pictures of the newly acquired parts tomorrow! the best bit? came with a gear lever with the M sport badge on. oooh yeah!

been a wee while! beast is back on the road!
after getting a garage to fit the new box (my knees were playing up too much in the cold weather) they phoned me up to tell me it would not start... gutted doesn't quite cut it, however after a brief chat on the phone it was decided that the immobiliser had to come out, so another day in the workshop and i get the call saying she's all good, and has all forward gears, so the ebay box did turn out to be a bargain!

got a few electrical issues at the moment, but nothing i can't sort out!
although if anyone happens upon a fog light relay for a 1990 E30 touring please let me know and let me know how much you want for it!

not done much mileage in her since i got her back last week as i've been working full time in reading.

also been going through a bit of a bad patch in my offline life, but things are finally coming to a close on that, not it a good way or way i'd hoped but at least it's coming to a close, more time and money to myself to enjoy the BM!
will get some decent pictures up once i've given the beast a polish! she's looking a bit grubby from being stood for so long!!!!

things had been looking bleak for TC beast number two!

and for myself for that matter.

the job front is looking semi promising, the company i have been working for through the agency has been taken over by British Gas. and is now called British Gas Energy Services. although it is still a BMS controls company. and they are planning on taking me on full time, they are just taking their time about it!

as for the beemer. had a few hiccups today, keeps knocking into neutral even though the selector lever is still in drive. one for the specialists me thinks. but that is what the last box did... so worried it might be the way i drive! in which case, there is secret plans in the pipeline.... photo's tomorrow or next week... when ever i can get my hands on a camera that isn't attached to a phone!

so after a few issues with the G/box, that were rectified by adding 2 litres of ATF, she is fully back in business.

got a new grill today to replace the one that was damaged in the minor indescretion with a mirca the day i got her on the road.

also got a new inlet manifold that isn't a faded p*ss yellow colour and a new rocker cover in a nice silver. all for 20 squid!


also got the front fog lights working. problem was corroded contacts in the switch...


bought some new plugs from halfrauds that need to go in, hoping to help with the fuel economy, another full tank only stretching to 160 miles... my wallet is going to have a nervous breakdown at this rate!


tried to polish her the other day. EPIC FAIL. two attempts with cutting compound on just the bonnet and it's still not playing ball... anyone fancy free cuppas all day to show me how it's done?


next big job on the agenda is attack the rust. then....

i need a new interior... well, front seats. might go for the sports seats in some of the higher spec 2 door coups. drivers seat has all but collapsed. leaving me with a bad back after a few miles on the local bumpy roads!

still need to get a new camera to get some pics up!!!
anyone going to the Ace Cafe any time soon?

If you're over fueling I'd get the codes read asap! I would bet on lambda but tbh it could be a few things. Is it reaching temperature ok?

There's a BMW meet in Northampton next Sunday if you're interested?

Marvellous, I have some new mesh grills arriving this week for my baby which I will have fitted on Friday morning. Then I have to get the mesh grill surrounds painted by my dent and scratch repair chap on Saturday morning before I have to drive up to Tamworth on Saturday afternoon for a Saab meeting with my fellow classy car enthusiasts! So Sunday onwards is free! As your not available on Sunday morning for breakfast then it will have to be sometime during the week! I love my Ace Cafe breakfast :bigsmile:

not many people can read them mate, pre EOBD as well! does have a port on it though. but the round one.

gonna change plugs and get the exhaust fixed, then check the points and dizzy cap.

bit of an update on the car...
keeps going through engine oil and transmission fluid... further investigation needed, but not looking good. engine had a very very worrying knock yesterday... and went to change the thermostat housing... don't bother attempting people!!! inlet manifold has to come off!!! will hopefully get round to doing it tomorrow (saturday)

on the bright side, i got a tax rebate... new front seats on the cards if i can find the right ones for the right price! that's after i've bought a new TV for my room so i can play forza more!
