What is the oldest model of police car you can remember?

What about the Rover 3500 and the Morris Marina? Can anyone go back further than this?

What do your local police favour? Our local force seem to be into Peugeots in a big way.

Our local police force seem to love Skoda.

::EDIT:: *love* == "Get given".

Did you ever see one of the Police, Stop! (or similar) shows where a T5 powered Volvo was losing ground to an Octavia vRS? Pretty sure it was a MkI with 1.8T at the time - it's no wonder they're all the rage :D Good price as well.

My Father is a retired bobby, and one car sticks in his mind. I can't remember which model it was exactly (other than it was a BMC maque) and not a "fast" model, but anyway they had constant engine problems with it.

Eventually, it went back to the manufacturer. The manufacturer phoned to say the problem was fixed and they could pick it up. The driver who bought it back came in white and shaking like a leaf - he'd had well over 100mph from the engine without pushing it on the way back. All the other bobbies thought he was pulling their leg, but eventually they phoned up about it, to be told "Oh, yeah. Our engineers couldn't find anything wrong with the engine, so one of our managers told us to put in a competiton engine."

I'm guessing that one caused a lot of upset to speeding drivers.

The police used Rover P5s before the SD1 became the vehicle of choice.

Allegro's, Escorts, remember seeing all these in the 1970's.

I also recall once seeing a Morris 1000 (similar to the Minor) in about 1974.

T-10k,
That was the car the preceded the Consul and Granada MkI, right?

A bit before that, I was talking about the Mk2, my father bought an ex police one when I was about 5 years old.

Ahhh - memory lane. Ford Sierra.

It's a shame for Ford that it was too radical for it's time. By the time Ford's Sierra was replaced with the Mondeo it was a well honed car with the benefit of rear wheel drive and all round independent suspension.
