Octavia VRS all grown up project

as alot of you know via my other 206 gti project thread me and the wife are having our first child later this year so the 206 just wouldnt of been practical, it was decided we needed something 5 door with a big boot and on my part something i can keep my hand in with modding :)

decision was made on a 2001 octavia vrs in black here is the write up of the for sale ad and also a few pics

DESCRIPTION
Here we have my precious VRS Octavia for sale. I have owned this car since 2004 and it has never wanted for anything. It comes with a fully stamped service book, mainly serviced at Farmers Skoda in Leicester and latterly at a VW/Skoda specialist. I have all receipts and previous MOT's including the original hand book etc.8 Months MOT, The car is immaculate for its age and has a super clean and unworn interior (never smoked in). The mileage has been mainly motorway due to my daily commute to work and has never let me down. The engine pulls like new and is completely original.

now the plans are to sensibly modify the car to keep it practical for the wife and baby so no noisy exhaust systems etc but this still shouldnt stop me improving on what i feel is a great all round engine (my bro has owned 2 20v turbo cars) so i do know quite a bit on the tuning side of these things but by no means am i an expert.

i have already purchased a cai kit from fellow briskoda member octycal and as long as it arrives this week i will get it fitted this sunday before i give the car a good detail (oh yes thats another hobby of mine).
also i have negotiated a deal for a forge intercooler which fits exactly the same as oe but has larger core etc etc.
i am then looking to fit an uprated turbo intake pipe and other related hoses and possibly a decat downpipe onto the existing oe exhaust system, once done a stage 1 remap at either psi tuning or more bhp will be carried out to keep me happy for now, but seriously watch this space in the coming months as im sure ill have some interesting updates for you all

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Yes, Andy and I are very good friends, it was Andy who told me about the forum actually, i thought I'd take a look

Great, just making sure as we have had a few raggamuffins on here in the past seeking to cause trouble! I have dealt with them appropriately ;)

What year Cosworth do you have? Loved them for a long time now, always stirred the blood once seen on the street.

Cool :) No trouble making from me mate lol :)

How did you know I had a cossie? It's a 1987 black 3dr mate, I'll post some pics up etc when I'm allowed :)

Cheers, Karl

Once you have 10 posts (You have 4 at the moment) the system will allow you to post those photos. This rule helps us to keep the spammers at bay who have nothing better to do than to plague this site with their nonsense. Looking forward to those photos |B

Hello and welcome 87 is that the rs500 or the sapphire by your user name I'm presuming it's the sapphire?

Hi, thanks for the welcome :)
It's not an rs500, it's a "normal" 3dr sierra cosworth.

I used to own a 2wd sapphire cosworth, it's just a username I've had for years so I thought I'd keep it lol

Cheers, Karl

Not a problem at all
mate :)

Haha, I wouldn't go that far mate but cheers anyway B)

anyway guys not got a huge update on the car front atm, although a new battery was fitted on sunday and this coming saturday its going in to get the vr6 clutch/g60 solid flywheel fitted.
also going to either remove or refix heatshield on front of exhaust system as its rattling like anything.
on sunday my good mate karl is going to stick me a new track rod end on passenger side as long as the weather is dry :)

the main update is that i become a father on monday 16th november at 21.38 to a cracking little boy Lennon Harry Blunt, and early reports are he loves the vrs and he is booked in for his 1st ride in karls 3dr cossie in april (weather permitting) :)

alright everyone thought i would head back to update on how im finding the car after fitting the vr6/g60 clutch/flywheel combo and the polybushed dogbone mount, all i can say is wow what an unreal difference clutch is much better slightly quicker revs now due to the lighter weight in the g60 flyhweel, the polybushed dogbone mount is very impressive it has removed alot of the slop in the gearbox and for the cost of £24 is a well worthy mod.

onto another very fresh update i have today purchased a 6 month old 2nd hand fk coilover kit for my car complete with powerflex top mounts for the grand sum of £150 delivered :) so a nice bargain what will finally freshen up the suspension and get it sitting just how i want it.

i also might have a deal on a neuspeed 28mm rear anti roll bar which is polybushed as well but i cant commit to it just yet, fingers crossed the fella still has it

hi everyone hope your all well and your xmas preparations are all going well?

anyway thought i would update you guys on a few developments since i was last here.

first of all i have managed to purchase a full fmic kit (wellycooler) from clive at cn tuning which i will be having a trip to berkshire to get he is also going to fit it me whilst im there
icon_smile.gif

I am also in the middle of doing a deal for a pair of leon cupra r hubs and wishbones plus the quick rack steering rack from the same car if this goes through then i will also polybush the wishbones and steering rack before fitment
The deal on the rear arb fell through so it looks like i will be buying a brand new whiteline arb with my xmas funds
icon_smile.gif

now once the fmic kit is fitted the car is complete for a stage 2 map which should see it around 230bhp/270lb/ft ish which should keep me good until i can get the bits together for around 300bhp and over 300lb/ft

hi to you all hope you had a great xmas and looking forward to whatever your getting up to tonight?

not got much to report on the car really, received my fk coilovers and poly top mounts from santa so me and my mate will be fitting them somtime in january i reckon, i am going to give the 007p a service and also do a mini service on the car oil/filter/fuel filter and also fit uprated sytec fuel pump.

im still to collect the fmic and rear arb but i have also decided to fit them along with my mate sometime in 2016 id imagine around april time.

well guys what a difference a few weeks can make, i started my new job on 11th january which is going great :)

anyway this is going seem like a really out the blue update but here goes, i have taken a deposit on the car and new owner collects from me in feb, it just wasnt cost effective the wife using this as a runaround as it was drinking fuel at a huge rate, so i sorted a deal out on a 53 plate renault megane 1.5 dci for her to use daily for nipping and popping haha.
Real bargain tbh got it for £700 road tax is £30 per year and they do 60+mpg on a run and 50ish around town :) so a massive saving all round on tax and fuel each year.

we are also looking at moving house to somewhere with a large drive and most importantly a man garage :) so i will then be having my little retro turbocharged toy for weekends etc again.

I wish you the very best of luck Andy, and may the house hunting be a smooth and trouble free affair |B

cheers matey we are now playing the waiting game on the house we viewed on weds.

must say very impressed with the megane had a 6 hour 330 mile round trip to heathrow today and it only used just under half tank of diesel.

Very impressive Andy, if that was my car doing 330 miles I can assure you that beads of sweat would start to appear on my face as my tank fast approached empty

Haha the octavia would never of got anywhere near 330 to a tank.

We stuck a pair of new front tyres had the tracking done plus i fitted new wiper blades all round and did an oil and filter change the other day/night. Going replace fuel and air filters tomorrow. Good thing is it had all belts done last feb
